Project Summary
For this project, I had the idea of using an Arduino to log and display my brake temperatures. The goal was to be able to both view current brake temps and visualise brake temps over the duration of a trip.
To the left is a basic flow chart demonstrating what I hope to accomplish. Simply, I want to easily see and maintain a record of my brake temperatures. Arduino's are useful in that the don't need an on/off switch. If they receive power, they turn on and immediately run their program until they loose power. In an automotive sense, this makes them easy to wire in to a 12v source connected to the ignition. The challenge with automotive power supplies is that they are subject to a wide range of voltage fluctuations, sometimes up to 50v. This requires additional voltage regulation circuitry, which is part of what makes this project interesting.
